TOTAL ECLIPSE
Last night Snow Moon
in and out of clouds
did the dance of seven and seventy veils
with Regulus and Saturn serving as acolytes
of a full moon in total eclipse,
heavy on the makeup
but not overdone because of distance,
deep reds and lemon yellows,
sunset splashes and sunrise streaks
borrowed from Brother Earth
whose inhabitants gazed in amazement.
History happens
but in the telling becomes a tale,
written down becomes belief,
scriptures sometimes sacred
that people live and love by,
kill and die by.
Man’s mind,
the acme of achievement,
often oversells itself,
bringing his own kind
to the brink of bankruptcy.
