TE DEUM
He never knew
what he was looking for
until he found it
on the way out,
decided to stay around awhile
with no regrets
over the wasted years;
it wasn’t he
but captive aliens
inside his body.
And now he knew
that no one owns the earth,
perhaps a piece or two
on temporary loan;
but the sky,
the sky was his
in all its shades of blue—
cerulean, cyan, topaz,
sapphire, indigo, teal—
to name but a few.
Now all the fragments fit:
oneness, wholeness,
and peace at last.
