BIRTHDAY BASH
Mid-December,
lightning, thunder,
wind and rain,
wet birds fly askew
like autumn leaves.
Inside, all is peace and calm;
it’s Beethoven’s birthday bash,
and his last string quartet
followed by the seventh symphony
pull one’s soul into paradise.
