SECRETS OF THE LOOP
Middle of the night,
all’s quiet on the Southern front.
Stars fallen on Alabama
masquerade as streetlights
and a message arrives from Seahorse,
sent from Camp Hippocampus :
“Don’t apologize
for repeating yourself;
if it’s worth saying once,
it’s worth saying a second time,
and don’t hesitate to use
lots of ‘what’s his names’
and ‘whachama call its’.
Just relax and get high
on lots of easy laughter;
it’s free and legal,
no crash, no hangover.
Craving is the only enemy;
and it can be controlled,
but you have to work at it.”
Susan wants
a poem about the Loop ,
seventeen houses,
each with its own secrets,
each with its own idiosyncrasies.
I’m sorry she asked,
cause if I tell,
I run the risk
of blackmail, blackball, and libel,
none of which
is covered by the Covenant.
So be it and Amen

Love the advice about 'craving' and getting high on 'easy laughter.' I see the new poems keep flowing and the poet is becoming a master blogger.
ReplyDeleteGreat treat to find these surprises.

You have to love the loop, all of the mysteries and secrets. Like Susan, I enjoy hearing about the loop. But no more worries about blackmail, blackball, libel, as the poet now holds the "keys" to the checkbook.
