THE YELLOW LEAF
Your days are in
the yellow leaf,
you wonder if
you could have done better.
Don’t rue the past;
you did your best.
Good, better, best
are relative terms
like up and down—
even when the earth
is upside down,
the sky’s still up
and heaven too.
So face the future
with confidence—
you will do your best.
Just smile, relax, and
swing for the fences,
unless, of course,
a bunt
is being called for.
